Shahid Khan – a Pakistan born businessman has been listed as the 66th richest man in United States (US) in the Forbes list of 400 richest Americans.
Shahid Khan, an engineer by profession, acquired auto parts supplier Flex-N-Gate from his former employer in 1980.
His design for a one-piece truck bumper was the basis for his success, the company now has 64 plants worldwide and over 24,000 employees.
Khan also owns the NFL’s Jacksonville Jaguars, which he bought in 2012, and UK’s Fulham football club, which he bought in 2013.
In 2019 he launched All Elite Wrestling, a professional wrestling entertainment company and a competitor to WWE.
Furthermore, he is a major financial backer of Black News Channel, a 24-hour cable news channel, which launched in February 2020.
Shahid Khan arrived in the United States from Pakistan at age 16 with just $500 in his pocket. He worked nights as a dishwasher while studying at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
Meanwhile, Mr Khan is also the owner of various sports franchises including Jacksonville Jaguars of the National Football League (NFL) and the English Football League Championship team Fulham F.C.
Previously in 2012, he was featured on the cover of Forbes magazine as the face of the American Dream.
The Forbes List was topped by Jeff Bezos – CEO and founder of Amazon worth up to US$ 179 billion as of July 24th, followed by Microsoft founder Bill Gates and Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg valued up to US$ 111 billion and US$ 85 billion respectively.
US President Donald Trump has als been listed in the list, his ranking dropping to 352nd and net worth of US$ 2.5 billion from the previous 275th rank in 2019 with a net worth of US$ 3.1 billion.
