The Pakistan Bar Council (PBC), has demanded the reopening of courts throughout the country as lockdown is being lifted in different phases.
A notification has been issued by PBC after the approval of Vice Chairman PBC Abid Saqi, seeking Chief Justice of Pakistan, Justice Gulzar Ahmed’s approval for the reopening of courts and resumption of legal practices across the country.
Citing the reopening of malls, markets, public transport and various sectors and industries, the notification has urged CJP and provincial Chief Justices to issue directions regarding the reopening of courts as government has already reopened several industries and sectors as part of the relaxation in lockdown measures and hence court process should also be allowed to resume in the country.
The reopening of courts and the resumption of case hearings is imperative in ensuring the provision of justice to the masses, it added.
