A Pakistan Army soldier was martyred during an intelligence based operation (IBO) in South Waziristan, reported ISPR on Sunday a day earlier.
According to Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), Security forces conducted an intelligence-based operation in the Senai Narai area of South Waziristan tribal district on the reported presence of terrorists.
During the IBO, terrorists opened fire on the security forces. During the intense gunfight that followed, a Pakistan Army soldier embraced martyrdom.
The martyred soldier has been identified as 20-year-old Sepoy Junaid – a resident of District Mansehra, Balakot.
Following the incident, security forces have launched a cordon and search operation in the vicinity to eliminate the militants responsible.
Meanwhile, two security personnel were injured when a landmine planted on the road went off in the Barwand area, police said.
Prior to this, Two Pakistan Army personnel identified as identified as Captain Basit – 25 years, resident of Haripur and Sepoy Hazrat Bilal – 22 years, resident of Orakzai, were martyred on July 13th last week during a sanitization operation in in Zewa area of Kurram District.
Three terrorists were also killed during the operation.
