Pakistan army has been placed at the 10th spot in the ranking of the world’s most powerful armies by the Global Firepower Index 2021.
As per these latest rankings Pakistan has improved 5 spots in the same list since 2019. The Global Firepower Index, which is an annual ranking that ranks a country according to its military strength had in 2020 placed Pakistan army at the 15th position.
The index list has ranked the military forces from 138 countries by comparing and examining a wide range of factors that include manpower, population, geography, diversity of weapons, and the state of development.
Those countries have nuclear weapons in their arsenal are given bonus points in the index list, however, the nuclear stockpiles do not amount in the final score. Pakistan stands at 10 in the list as it holds a PwrIndx* rating of 0.2083. The rating 0.0000 is considered as perfect in the list, however, no army has achieved that ranking.
The list has placed United States army at the top with the PwrIndx* rating of 0.0721 followed by Russia and China is at the third spot. Meanwhile, India has been placed at the 4th spot.
Military forces that are equipped with naval fleets but lack diversity are penalized in the list, however, landlocked countries that do not maintain navies are not penalized. The PowerIndex score in the list is for each country after examining more than 55 factors, and this allows small and technologically advanced nations to compete with large countries that are less developed and advanced.
As per the Global Firepower’s ranking, Pakistan army has an estimated total of 1,204,000 military personnel.
