Pakistan Army leadership has offered deepest condolences on the demise of former Chief of Naval Staff (CNS) Karamat Rahman Niazi (retd) who passed away on May 4th.
According to Inter Services Public Relations, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa and Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) General Nadeem Raza have offered their condolences on the passing away of former Pakistan Navy Chief Admiral Karamat Rahman Niazi (retd).

Who Was Admiral Karamat Rahman Niazi?
Karamat Rahman Niazi secured commission as a midshipman in Pakistan Navy’s operations branch in 1948 followed by his training at the Britannia Royal Naval College in Darmouth, UK after which he was promoted to the rank of sub-lieutenant and eventually lieutenant-commander by 1962.
Admiral Karamat Rahman Niazi has the distinguish honor of being the first commander of PN’s first submarine PNS Ghazi as he had received training on submarine operations in United States. He also held a Master’s degree in strategic studies from National Defence University (NDU) Islamabad.
The deceased took part in 1965 Indo-Pak war as commanding officer of PNS Ghazi. On 17 September 1965, Commander Niazi ordered the targeting of Indian Navy Ship INS Brahmaputra.
Karamat Rahman Niazi was promoted as CNS Pakistan Navy in 1979, a post he held till March 1983.
For his services to the nation, Admiral Karamat Rahman Niazi was awarded with Nishan-e-Imtiaz, Hilal-e-Imtiaz and Sitara-e-Jurat by the government of Pakistan.
