Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi has praised overseas Pakistanis for contributing towards country’s economic growth and development.
Expressing his views on National Assembly floor, the foreign minister accentuated the significance of overseas Pakistanis regarding country’s improving economic indicators.
Contenting in favor of voting rights for overseas Pakistanis, Shah Mahmood Qureshi urged the opposition parties to refrain from petty politics and play a progressive and positive role in ensuring the provision of due rights of overseas Pakistanis.
During the session, the lower house passed the Financial Institutions (Secured Transactions) (Amendment) Bill, 2021 tabled by Ali Muhammad Khan – Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs.
Additionally, three other bills were also introduced in the National Assembly namely, Pakistan Allied Health Professionals Council Bill 2021, the Pakistan Nursing Council (amendment) Bill 2021, and the Mutual Legal Assistance (Criminal Matters) (Amendment) Bill 2021.

The development comes as earlier, Federal Minister for Information Fawad Chaudhry had hinted on a ‘new mechanism’ to be devised for next elections.
The government had promised the right to vote to Pakistani expatriates abroad and it intends to fulfil that promise, Fawad Chaudhry had said.
