Chicago Police said Wednesday that the overnight shootings across the city killed at least five people including a 15-year-old girl and injured five others, local media reported, as the minor was found deceased with another male in Roseland.
The two were found in the 200-block of West 109th Place in West Roseland, according to the local authorities. The male was 24-year-old.
Both of them were shot multiple times while they were inside a car, police said.
The police said that in a separate incident at a CTA bus, a man wielding a knife was shot dead in the West Humboldt Park neighborhood, as the deceased 53-year-old man was waving a knife at another person.
The shooter fled the scene and the person was declared dead by the authorities.
Authorities also noted that two other 22-year-old females were fatally shot in the 5000-block of West Gladys Avenue, adding that a white car approached the two women standing on the sidewalk and someone opened fire.
Both were transported to the hospital in critical condition but they succumbed to their injuries. According to ABC Chicago, no one was in custody and the police have commenced an investigation.
In the West Pullman neighborhood, a 25-year-old male was also fatally shot in the 600 block of West 117th Street, police said.
The victim was in the 600 block of West 117th Street at about 12:19am. when he told police he was shot by an unknown suspect who fled on foot.
The shooting comes just a day after three people were shot including a suspect involved in a robbery, during a gun violence incident in the North Lawndale neighbourhood, Chicago late Monday.
The suspect was only a 16-year-old who attempted to rob two people ages 34 and 50, at about 10:02pm in the 3800 block of West Roosevelt Road, reported ABC7 Chicago.
According to the local officials, there was also another person who was involved in shooting with the boy however that armed person ran away from the scene.
