National Assembly Opposition Leader – Shehbaz Sharif has rejected PM Imran Khan’s statement pertaining to referendum in Kashmir.
In a statement, PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif has criticized PM Imran Khan for latter’s ‘casual remarks’ regarding holding a referendum in Kashmir to decide whether the Kashmiris wanted to live with Pakistan or as an independent nation.
Casual remarks by PM Imran Khan in a political gathering are damaging for the Kashmir cause, tweeted Shehbaz Sharif.
We reject any stance that is not rooted in the UNSC resolutions and the country’s historical position, noted the PML-N President.
Shehbaz Sharif also stressed that government’s Kashmir policy has already given India space to maneuver.
The NA Opposition Leader also accentuated that imposing a solution on Kashmiris without their consent and consultation is tantamount to helping India and betraying the Kashmir cause.
Imran Niazi’s statement has proved the concerns that have already come before the nation with the Indian measures of August 5th 2019, noted Shehbaz Sharif.
The development comes as earlier, PM Imran Khan during an election rally in Tarar Khal had promised the people of Kashmir that his government will hold a referendum in which they could choose to join Pakistan or become an independent state.
