Nurses belonging from a Sindh-wide alliance on Tuesday, protested against Sindh government demanding to be ‘regularized’.
The protesting nurses and paramedics started their march from Karachi Press Club and headed towards Chief Minister House to protest against their ‘non-regularization’.
Their march was stopped by heavy deployment of police near Arts Council Karachi who forcefully prevented any further movement towards CM House.
One nurse is said to have been injured in the following physical altercation between protesters and security forces.
Junaid Gondal – Senior Vice President of the Nursing Alliance, has said that Sindh government has hired them on contract basis on three occasions.
He noted that nurses and paramedics have selflessly performed their duties during COVID-19 pandemic and still they haven’t been regularized.
According to details, 2,384 nurses were hired on contract basis to serve in especial wards set up for COVID-19 patients. However, their salaries haven’t been paid for the last three months.
Meanwhile, Sindh Health Department has contended that these nurses were hired on a three-month contract which have been renewed for additional three months.
