Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government, on Wednesday, announced that all non-essential shops will be closed by 5 pm across the province.
Addressing a press conference, Ajmal Khan Wazir – spokesperson of KP government stated that the decision to revise lockdown relaxation and restore strict lockdown restrictions has been made to ensure the safety of public and to curb the spread of novel virus.
Urging the people to adhere to social distancing guidelines and COVID-19 preventive SOPs, Mr Wazir warned that the government will be enforce a complete and strict lockdown if the public fail to comply by government recommendations.
“If the people cooperate then lockdown will be eased, [if not] then it would be stricter,” he noted.
Highlighting the significance of current situation, Ajmal Khan Wazir stated that the country is currently ‘in a state of war’, and that only weapon against it is ensuring the implementation of preventive and safety measures.

The decision comes as earlier KP government had eased lockdown restriction in the last week of Ramadan in order to promote Eid related commercial activities, however, continuous surge in COVID-19 cases has prompted the provincial government to revise its COVID-19 policy and restore strict restrictions across the province.
