KARACHI: The National Accountability Court has issued non-bailable warrants for the arrest of former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi over the issue of illegal hirings and corruption during his tenure as petroleum minister.
The arrest will come into effect exactly a month after Islamabad High Court granted him bail against a Rs10 million bond in another corruption reference related to the LNG contract in his tenure as the petroleum minister.
Abbasi is accused of allowing illegal hirings of managing director and deputy managing director of the Pakistan State Oil under his ministership in the new reference. Another warrant has been issued for former petroleum secretary Arshad Mirza.
Notices have been to those hired illegally to show up at the court on April 10.
