Islamabad: Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), on Thursday, announced that it will not charge any amount to the people registering in Ehsaas Emergency Cash Programme via SMS service.
According to PTA spokesperson, all telecom operators have been directed to end SMS charges for Ehsaas Emergency Cash Program. Prior to this, an amount of Rs 1.50 was being charged from the people who were registering themselves to the relief program by sending SMS on 8171 as directed by the government.
Around 17,000 distribution centres have been established across the country for Ehsaas Emergency Cash Programme which constitutes of a budget around Rs144 billion.
Earlier, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety, Dr Sania Nishtar, on Thursday tweeted that government has ensured the provision of healthcare guidelines at the distribution points which were being established in accordance with the Ehsaas Emergency Cash Program which will oversee the disbursement of Rs12,000 per family out of 12 million deserving families across the country.
