Commissioner Karachi – Iftikhar Shallwani has ordered against the placement of billboards on Karachi’s footpaths.
Iftikhar Shallwani has directed authorities to free city’s footpaths of billboards and hoardings and that only small-sized advertisements are allowed to be installed on buildings.
The decision is aimed at resotring city’s overall look and protection of pedestrians who are often injured and even killed in billboards-related incidents.
Expressing his views while meeting Korangi Association of Trade and Industry (KATI) delegation that included Zubair Chaya, Saleemuz Zaman, Shaikh Umar Rehan; Commissioner Karachi noted that roundabouts will be allocated for billboards after auction.
We will have no issue if the present allottees want to get back the roundabouts after the auction, he said.
Iftikhar Shallwani also accepted KATI delegation’s requests seeking renaming of Korangi 3,000 Road after Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry president SM Muneer.
