Authorities have decided to seal off nice localities in Islamabad after the federal capital witnessed exponential surge in COVID-19 cases in recent days.
As per the details, Pakistan Army and Pakistan Rangers contingents have been called to cordon off the nine localities with significant coronavirus cases in a bid to isolate these areas from the rest of the city and curb the virus spread.
The areas which are reported to have been sealed off include Huawei Tech. Saudi Pak Tower, Blue Area, Islamabad; Pakistan Sports Board; Gulrajgan, ChatthaBakhtawar; street No. 13-C, National Police Foundation, E-11/4, Islamabad; main street No. 26, sub-street 110, sector I-10/4; street No. 111, sector G-9/4; street No. 54, sector G-7/2; Block No. 6, PWD Colony; and street No. 62, sector G-6/4, Islamabad.

According to the notification issued by the office of District Magistrate Islamabad Capital Territory, the COVID-19 affected areas will be sealed off under Epidemic Disease Act 1958 to ‘prevent community spread of novel COVID-19 coronavirus’.
It is to be noted that Islamabad’s coronavirus tally stands at 3,554 cases, with 518 recoveries and 38 reported deaths so far.
