New York City’s Times Square on Monday, highlighted Indian atrocities in Indian Occupied Kashmir (IOK) and to mark the first anniversary of abrogation of Article 370 of the Indian constitution by Narendra Modi led BJP government.
Asad Majeed Khan – Pakistan’s ambassador to United States took to social media to highlight the Kashmir solidarity campaign in New York’s famous Times Square.
“Kashmiris mark a full year of their imprisonment on August 5,” he tweeted.
The digital advertisements read ‘Kashmir siege day’, whereas another resonated with the world-wide anti-discrimination and anti-racism movement Black Lives Matter and stated ‘Kashmiri Lives Matter’.

It is to be noted that Pakistan has already announced to mark the anniversary of the abrogation of Article 370 of the Indian constitution by Indian government and the revocation of special status of disputed valley of Jammu and Kashmir on August 5 as ‘Youm-e-Istehsal-e-Kashmir to exprss Pakistan’s solidarity and support for the Kashmiri people.
The Article 370 of the Indian constitution granted special autonomy and status to the disputed region of Jammu and Kashmir. It allowed the state to formulate and implement its own laws regarding permanent residency, ownership of property and fundamental rights.
