The federal government has removed Special Advisor to Prime Minster on Information affairs Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan to be replaced by Chairman CPEC Lt Gen (r) Asim Saleem Bajwa as the new SAPM while Shibli Faraz of PTI has been appointed the new Minister of information.
Federal Minister Fawad Chaudhry disclosed the development through his tweet saying the new information minister is truly a dignified and honorable person who would make a great team with Asim Bajwa as SAPM. He wished them the best.
Shibli Faraz was appointed as the leader of the house in the Senate in August 2018. He is the son of acclaimed (late) poet Ahmed Faraz.
Lieutenant General (retd) Asim Bajwa is currently serving as chairperson of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) Authority. Bajwa will serve as the authority’s head for a period of four years.
General Asim Bajwa is a retired Pakistan Army three-star general, who served as Commander Southern Command. Prior to that, he also served as Director-General of the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) from 2012 to 2016.
