The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has imposed an Rs 13 million fine on Peshawar city’s power distributor over electrocution deaths back in 2019.
As per details, NEPRA fined Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO) over negligence which resulted in 26 electrocution deaths in back in July-December 2019.
The fine has been imposed under Section 27A of NEPRA Act.
The development comes as the investigation report revealed that out of the total 26 fatalities, 14 occurred due to negligence on part of PESCO.
PESCO had failed to ensure flawless provision of relevant rules, regulations to obtain prescribed safety standards.
Furthermore, PESCO has been directed to financially compensate the victims’ families.
