National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has approved a hike of Rs 1.95 per unit hike in power tariff on Friday (today).
As per details, the power tariff hike will be applicable to all consumers including those who only use 50 units per month.
The power tariff hike will cost Rs 200 billion to the customers.
The decision to approve power tariff hike comes as government is trying to ensure uniform tariff for all distribution companies.
It is to be noted that K-Electric customers are exempted from the power tariff hike.
Prior to this, federal government had approved Rs 1.95 tariff hike on January 21 last month. The tariff hike was aimed at revenue generation to ease the financial burden on the government.
