National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has approved Rs 0.89 per united increase in power tariff.
As per details, NEPRA has approved power tariff hike of Rs 0.89 per unit for the month of January 2021. The increase in power tariff has been made on account of fuel charges due to variations in fuel prices.
Power tariff hike will be applicable following the issuance of notification from the federal government.
However, K-Electric consumers will be exempted from the power tariff hike.
Prior to this, NEPRA had approved Rs 1.95 per unit hike in power tariff on February 12th last month. The increase in power tariff was applicable on all consumers including those who only use 50 units per month and costed Rs 200 billion to the customers in total.
NEPRA had also held a public hearing on February 25th on the issue of Central Power Purchase Authority’s (CPPA) seeking permission for increase in electricity
