National Command and Operations Center (NCOC) has barred air travel without COVID-19 vaccination certificate from August 1st.
As per details, NCOC has warned the public against dangerous Indian origin Delta variant of COVID-19 issuing July 31st deadline for workers to get inoculated.
Failure to take precautionary measures against the Delta variant can lead to dangerous consequences, said NCOC.
The forum has announced that COVID-19 vaccination certificate will be mandatory for air travel and people without it will not be allowed to board airplanes.
Visitors to tourist spots aged 30 and above will not be allowed without a vaccination certificate, whereas hotel bookings have also been prohibited without vaccination certificates.
Furthermore, NCOC has decided to expedite COVID-19 vaccination process between July 9th to July 18th timeframe in wake of Eid-ul-Azha.
The development comes as earlier in the day, Federal Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar warned that Pakistan is witnesses ‘clear signs of fourth COVID-19 wave’.
Prior to this, the NCOC Chief had denied the possibility of a complete lockdown in case of a fourth COVID-19 wave in the country.
Ruling out the implementation of a complete lockdown, Asad Umar noted that the government might consider imposing smart lockdowns in areas where cases are increasing.
A total of 47,528 COVID-19 tests were conducted in the past 24 hours of which 1,737 came back positive taking the nation’s COVID-19 positivity rate to 3.65%.
A total of 25 people succumbed to the novel virus during this time period.
As per the NCOC statistics, Pakistan’s total COVID-19 tally stands at 969,476 cases with 22,250 deaths so far. A total of 911,383 people have successfully recovered from COVID-19 whereas 1,971 are still in critical condition.
