The National Accountability Bureau (NAB), on Wednesday, announced its decision to file a supplementary reference against Senior Vice President PML-N and former Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi in LNG case.
According to details, during the hearing of LNG case at an Islamabad accountability court, presided by Judge Azam Khan, NAB asked the court for time to file a supplementary reference against Shahid Khaqan Abbasi.
Responding to NAB’s request, the court has given NAB till June 11 to file the reference.
Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) officers Saeed Ahmed Khan, Uzma Adil Khan were also present at the hearing. The court expressed its displeasure over the absence of former Pakistan State Oil (PSO) Managing Director (MD) Shahid M. Islam.
The accountability watchdog has said that it will present the transaction records of bdullah Khaqan’s (Shahid Khaqan Abbasi’s son) accounts which will prove that large sum of money was transferred into the former premier’s family accounts once the contract for LNG terminal was approved.
Furthermore, the defence lawyer argued that NAB has only managed to file a supplementary reference and that this whole case is nothing but a witch-hunt, to which the NAB representative responded that the bureau has not yet file a final reference as it is unable to obtain necessary records from Karachi due to coronavirus lockdown.
