Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaaf (PTI) leader, Senator Sania Nishtar, underwent over an hour of questioning at NAB’s Rawalpindi office on Thursday in the Al-Qadir Trust case involving £190 million.
Sources disclosed that Nishtar, a former federal cabinet member, was probed concerning the aforementioned financial case.
During the interrogation, Nishtar revealed that Shahzad Akbar had presented a confidential envelope during a cabinet meeting, instructing them to merely affix their signatures, as per sources.
Nishtar divulged the identities of two former ministers to the investigating team, according to sources. NAB primarily posed inquiries pertaining to money transfers, ultimately permitting Nishtar to depart upon receiving satisfactory responses.
In a related development, NAB also summoned PTI Leader and former Minister Malik Amin Aslam for questioning.
The PTI Chairman, accompanied by his wife Bushra Bibi and other party leaders, currently faces a NAB inquiry regarding an agreement between the PTI government and a property tycoon. This agreement allegedly resulted in a £190 million loss to the national treasury.
Charges suggest that the former Prime Minister and other accused individuals manipulated £190 million (equivalent to Rs50 billion at the time) provided by Britain’s National Crime Agency (NCA) to the Pakistani government as part of the arrangement with the property tycoon. Additionally, they stand accused of receiving undue benefits, including over 458 kanals of land in Mouza Bakrala, Sohawa, for the establishment of Al-Qadir University.
