National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has launched another investigation against Chief Minister Punjab Usman Buzdar in matters pertaining to awarding of contracts during his tenure.
NAB has initiated its probe against CM Usman Buzdar over allegations of illegally awarding various government contracts on the basis of favoritism and nepotism violating standard rules and regulations.
The accountability watchdog has sought detailed records of various development projects from Lahore Development Authority (LDA), to look into the allegations of awarding of illegal contracts.
This is the second investigation launched by the anti-graft watchdog against CM Usman Buzdar.
Prior to this, Usman Buzdar on August 13th appeared before NAB to be questioned in matters pertaining to illegal issuance of liquor license to a particular hotel allegedly receiving Rs50 million in bribe. The Chief Minister was handed a 12-page questionnaire.
NAB has contended that Director General (DG) Excise is responsible for issuance of liquor licenses, whereas CM Usman Buzdar used his authority and influence for the issuance of liquor license for a particular hotel.
Usman Buzdar has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing and has assured NAB of full cooperation on the matter.
