The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has been instructed by Public Accounts Committee (PAC) to finish in inquiry regarding power sector corruption case within 30 days.
As per the details, Syed Naveed Qamar chaired a meeting of the sub-committee of the PAC which looked into audit details of Power Division for the year 2016-17. NAB representatives were also present at the meeting and were unable to provide any progress update on the case when inquired about.
“You are not aware of the details of the audit paras sent since long and it seems that where NAB has to come into action, it fails to do and when it wanted to arrest anyone, then it comes into action without any charge and evidence,” said Naveed Qamar.
It is to be noted that last month federal government had announced its decision to release the inquiry report regarding corruption in independent power producers (IPPs), which was reporting a loss of Rs 1 billion per day.
Furthermore, Federal Minister for Planning and Development – Asad Umar, had stated that an inquiry commission will be formed which will investigate the people involved in IPP corruption case and accused of financial irregularities and mismanagement.
