President Arif Alvi approved the name of Kamran Tessori as Governor of Sindh. The appointment was made by the President under Article 101 (i) of the Constitution.
MQM-Pakistan Deputy Convenor Kamran Tessori was born on May 5, 1974 in Karachi. He belonged to a business family.
Kamran Tessori has maintained a prominent position and positive reference among the business community. He has received the honor of Businessman of the Year 3 times in the regime of former President Pervez Musharraf. Governor Sindh Kamran Tessori started his political career 12 years ago with the Pakistan Muslim League Functional (PML-F). After 4 years Mr. Tessori left PML-F and joined MQM Pakistan.
He was assigned the position of Deputy Convener in Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan. In the political field, his good name needs no introduction.
It is pertinent to mention that the post of Governor Sindh was laying vacant since the resignation of Imran Ismail in April. Speaker of Sindh Assembly Agha Siraj Durrani was serving as acting governor of Sindh.
Before Imran Ismail, Muhammad Zubair of PML-N was the governor of Sindh. Before him, this position was held by Dr. Ishratul Ibad Khan who belongs to MQM also. Dr. Ishratul Ibad has the honor of being the governor of a province for the longest time in national history.
