SAPM on Health – Dr Faisal Sultan has reaffirmed that there are more than one million COVID-19 vaccines available in the country, reassuring that the vaccine situation will improve from next week.
Taking to social media, SAPM on Health Dr Faisal Sultan apprised that Pakistan is likely to receive 1.55 million COVID-19 vaccine doses by June 20th, another 2.5 million doses by June 22nd and further two to three million COVID-19 vaccine doses between June 23rd to 30th.
The country will also receive 400,000 locally made PakVac (Cansino) COVID-19 vaccine doses during this time period.
The additional pressure being subjected on national vaccination capacity will be eased by Tuesday next week, added Dr Faisal Sultan.
The SAPM also highlighted that around 12.9 million COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered in Pakistan so far with 416,000; 266,000 and 226,000 vaccine doses administered on June 16th, 17th and 18th respectively.
The development comes as vaccination centers in Lahore, Karachi, Islamabad along with various other cities across Punjab and Sindh are facing acute shortage of COVID-10 vaccine stock.
Earlier today, it was reported that Karachi’s COVID-19 vaccination facilities had ran out of various coronavirus vaccines most notably sinovac, AstraZeneca and Cansino.
City’s 24/7 vaccination facility established at Karachi Expo Center also reported severe vaccine shortage.
In Karachi, around 90 vaccination centers are on the brink of running out of COVID-19 vaccine stock. District Korangi, Central, South, East and West all are facing vaccine shortage.
Meanwhile, in Lahore only four out the total vaccination centers were reported to be operational and administering COVID-19 vaccines in wake of vaccine shortage.
Vaccination facilities established at Pakistan Kidney and Liver Institute, Expo Center, Minar-e-Pakistan, and Railway Dispensary are currently operational, said sources within Punjab Health Department.
