Prime Minister Imran Khan on Monday (today) highlighted the need to address the issue of Islamophobia targeting Muslims around the world.
Expressing his views as chief guest in Ulema and Mashaikh Conference, PM Imran Khan noted that Islamic world and its leaders have failed to duly address and counter the issue of Islamophobia.
The prime minister underscored the fact that the west has linked terrorism with Islam resulting in a surge in Islamophobia and anti-Muslim rhetoric, acts around the world.
Prior to 9/11 attacks, suicide bombings were primarily carried out by the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam in Sri Lanka, a group comprising Hindus, but nobody ever associated Hinduism with terrorism, said PM Imran.
PM Imran Khan stressed that leaders of the Islamic world must need to play their role in countering Islamophobia.
The prime minister highlighted that social and religious extremism exists all across the globe, however only Islam and Muslims have been stereotyped.
