Karachi is likely to receive its first rain spell of this year’s monsoon season from July 15th next week.
According to Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), monsoon currents from Arabian sea and Bay of Bengal are penetrating in upper parts of the country which would onset monsoon.
Karachi is expected to receive first monsoon rains between July 15th and July 17th, said Karachi Met Director Sardar Sarfaraz.
The metropolis will receive 10-22 millimeter of moderate downpour, he added.
Separately, Met Department has noted that Karachi might witness some rain on July 12th before the first spell of monsoons officially begins as humid winds are expected to enter Pakistan via Gujrat with monsoon clouds likely to fall in Tharparkar and surrounding areas.
Meanwhile, monsoon rains are expected in various areas across Pakistan from Saturday (today). Met Department has forecasted downpour in slamabad, Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Gujrat, Mandi Bahauddin, Sialkot, Narowal, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Kasur, Okara, Faisalabad, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Sargodha, Mianwali, Khushab, Bhakkar and Layyah.
