Pakistan’s Ministry of Health has warned pregnant women to not receive various COVID-19 vaccine as a precautionary measure against unforeseeable side effects on health.
As per details, officials have cited health concerns regarding administering of COVID-19 vaccines to pregnant women as only limited trials have been carried out on expecting mothers.

Hence, due to unavailability of essential data and statistics, Ministry of Health has advised pregnant women to abstain from receiving COVID-19 vaccine jab.
The advisory is applicable on various COVID-19 vaccines being used in Pakistan including Chinese Sinopharm, CanSinoBio, Sinovac, and Russian Sputnik-V.
According to Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting – more than 2 million people in Pakistan have received COVID-19 vaccine in Pakistan so far, whereas the country has another 3.7 million vaccine doses in its stock as of now.
It is pertinent to know that Pakistan launched its first COVID-19 vaccination programme on February 3rd after receiving 500,000 COVID-19 vaccine doses from China’s Sinopharm on February 1st.
The COVID-19 vaccination drive was launched simultaneously in federal capital along with provincial capitals namely Islamabad, Karachi, Lahore, Quetta and Peshawar.
Meanwhile the second phase of COVID-19 vaccination was launched on March 10th. The second phase of COVID-19 inoculation will focus on people who are aged 60 or above, as they’re more vulnerable to the novel virus.
According to Ministry of National Health Services, people above the age of 60 can get themselves registered via sending a text message at 1166 or can visit (NIMS) website.
Meanwhile, Pakistan on Tuesday (today) started registration for COVID-19 vaccine for the people above the age of 40.
