MDCAT 2020 examinations have been postponed on the directions of Sindh High Court (SHC) today.
SHC on Wednesday, directed Pakistan Medical Commission (PMC) to postpone MDCAT 2020 examinations for medical students across the country.
The court has directed PMC to form a new academic board, finalize the syllabus pertaining to admission test for medical and dental college admissions.
In its verdict, SHC highlighted that National Medical & Dental Academic Board has not been established as required by the Pakistan Medical Commission Act 2020.
Furthermore, SHC reprimanded PMC’s October 23rd notification that allowed candidates to mark any questions they believed were beyond the syllabus in an objection form to be provided at the examination center.
The court termed the provision as ‘unreasonable’ and opposing to the general academic standard.
The new academic board will have the authority to formulate the examination structure and standards for the MDCAT for the approval of council.
The two-judge bench has directed official respondents and advocate general Sindh to submit their response in regards to the petition challenging entry test system for MBBS and BDS programmes.
