Religious parties have called for a country-wide strike on Friday October 15th to protest against the last week’s assassination of Maulana Adil Khan.
According to details, several religious parties including Jamiat-e-Ulema Islam-Fazl, the Ahle Sunnat Wal Jammat, Jamaat-i-Ishaat-e-Tauheed Wa Sunnah, Jamiat-e-Ulema Islam-Sami, Tanzeemul Ulema Karachi have voiced their support for a nationwide strike to be observed on Friday.
“The decision has been taken after consultations with all religious parties, religious scholars and principals of madrassas,” said Maulana Aurangzeb Farooqi.
We appeal to the people, traders and transporters to make the strike a success by keeping their businesses shut and vehicles off the road on Friday, he added.
Meanwhile, a four-member team headed by Karachi Police Chief Ghulam Nabi Memon has been formed to investigate the assassination of Maulana Adil and his driver on September 10th last week.
The investigation team also includes DIG CTD Omar Shahid, DI East and SSP Korangi, and will apprise IGP Sindh Mushtaq Mehr on daily basis, whereas an FIR has been registered on behalf of SHO Shah Faisal police station in Maulana Adil Murder Case and includes murder and anti-terror provisions.
It is pertinent to know that Maulana Adil – principal Jamia Farooqia, was targeted by unknown gunmen in Karachi’s Shah Faisal Colony area near Shama Shoppping Center on October 10th
Maulana Adil was also a faculty member of Jamia Dar Jamia Darul Uloom Karachi – largest seminary of Deobandi sect in Pakistan.
