Sindh Education Minister Saeed Ghani, on Thursday, announced Sindh government’s decision to suspend matric and intermediate board examinations and that the students will be promoted without examinations.
In a statement, Saeed Ghani clarified the uncertainty surrounding board examinations in the province, and stated that Sindh Education Steering Committee session has decided that this year board examinations will not be conducted and the students will be promoted without exams due to COVID-19 outbreak.
Furthermore, the provincial minister added that necessary amendments need to be made in the law to promote students without exams.
It is to be noted that educational institutions in the country have been instructed to close till July 15 to protect the students from the novel virus.
Earlier, Sindh government had already announced to promote students of class 1 to class 8 on the basis of previous results.
Prior to this, Saeed Ghani on Tuesday, had warned that schools may not reopen for another six months in the province due to continuous increase in COVID-19 cases. Saeed Ghani also announced that the government intends to introduce an online curriculum to compensate for the academic loss of students amid coronavirus pandemic.
