Maryam Mujtaba has become the first female commercial pilot from Azad Kashmir by securing her commercial pilot license (CPL) after extensive training both in Pakistan and abroad.
Maryam Mujtaba joined Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) back in 2011 as a cadet pilot. She has undergone aviation training in Rawalpindi and later in New Jersey-based flight academy, Century Air.
She has been promoted as first officer’ on Airbus-320 aircraft following completion of required flying hours on ATR aircraft.
Expressing her views, Maryam Mujataba said that he was always interested in flying planes and wanted to become a pilot.
Mujtaba also apprised that another female PIA pilot Captain Ayesha Rabia was her inspiration throughout this journey.
She expressed gratitude family, mentors, and colleagues for their support and encouragement which significantly contributed to her success and this notable achievement.
In addition to it, Maryam Mujtaba has also been designated by the Special Communications Organization (SCO), a subsidiary of the Pakistan army running telecom network in AJK and Gilgit-Baltistan, as its brand ambassador.
Meanwhile, President AJ& Sardar Masood Khan also met with Maryam Mujtaba and lauded her achievement terming it as an inspiration for young women, especially Kashmiri girls to pursue their dreams.
You have inspired and encouraged a number of women in the liberated territory to consider aviation as a promising career, he said.
