All Pakistan Hindu Panchayat (APHP) has clarified that Hindu-Muslim marriages in Pakistan are a result of love affairs, further refuting claims of forced abductions.
Ravi Dawani – General Secretary APHP, speaking to ‘timesofindia’ said that relatives often resort to false allegations of forced abductions to ‘preserve their honor’, whereas Hindu-Muslim marriages are in fact a result of love affairs.
Citing Zyadatar case, he highlighted that it was a case of love marriage and not forced abduction as alleged the family members.
Furthermore, Ravi Dawani quoted ‘Bharti Case’ – an engineering student at Mehran University Jamshoro, who was reported to have been abducted and forcefully converted, in fact had an affair with a student named Shahrukh Memon.
“Our investigations revealed that when Bharti’s family came that when Bharti’s family came to know of her relation with Shahrukh, they stopped her from going to college till the time Shahrukh himself went to their house and assured that Bharti would be safe,” he was quoted saying while speaking to the Indian news outlet.
Another case of Mehak – a 15 year old girl who accepted Islam and married Ali Raza Machi willfully. However, Mehak’s family filed a police complaint for they were ‘hurt’ as their daughter married a Muslim man.
