Madressas from now on will be registered as educational institutions in Sindh after the approval of provincial cabinet on Monday (today).
Chief Minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah on Monday, presided over an apex committee meeting and approved the decision to register madressas as educational institutions in the province.
“Madrassas play an important role in providing free education,” said CM Murad Ali Shah.
He has directed Sindh Education and Literacy Department to register madressas as educational institutions in light of the policy decisions agreed upon in the National Action Plan (NAP).
During the meeting it was revealed that prior to this, Endowment Fund Department and Industries Department used to address the registration of madressas in the province,
According to government statistics, there are 8,195 madressas and Imambargahs in Sindh.
Furthermore, the meeting mulled over the issue of street crimes and announced its decision to approach Sindh High Court (SHC) to appoint separate judges for street crimes cases.
