Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Senator Shibli Faraz, on Thursday, warned that the government might be forced to re-impose COVID-19 lockdown if the people fail to abide by the SOPs and guidelines issued by the government.
Speaking at the senate session convened on the issue of coronavirus, Senator Shibli Faraz reiterated the significance of abiding by the COVID-19 guidelines and SOPs issued by the government regarding various businesses and sectors.
“People should follow the lockdown SOPs during shopping activity. If people didn’t act upon the SOPs, the government will be left with no option but to once more tighten the lockdown measures by shutting all markets,” he noted.
Furthermore, the federal minister urged the opposition to abstain from political point scoring which might affect national unity amid virus crisis.
“Opposition should tell what is its own plan to counter the coronavirus,” he responded to opposition’s criticism of government policies on COVID-19 crisis.
The federal government does not want to politicize the issue of coronavirus. I urge the opposition to give useful suggestions and advice instead of resorting to baseless pseudo allegations against government.
Expressing his views on the economic repercussions of virus pandemic, Shibli Faraz stated that more than Rs 100 billion have been distributed among deserving families under Ehsaas Emergency Cash program. Whereas resources amounting to Rs 31 billion have been allocated to Sindh province alone.
