Sindh government has lifted the strict lockdown directives for Friday on the occasion of Juma-tul-Wida, the last Friday of Ramadan.
The Juma-tul-Wida prayers will be held in mosques all across the province, however, they will be subjected to the social distancing guidelines and preventive measures as recommended by healthcare experts to curb the virus spread.
Furthermore, Sindh High Court (SHC) has also instructed provincial government to ensure the provision congregational prayers in accordance with 20-point SOPs formulated by President Arif Alvi and Pakistani Ulema of different sects.
Prior to this, Sindh government has been imposing strict lockdown on Fridays since the country-wide lockdown imposed on March 23, according to which only mosque staff i.e. Pesh Imam, muezzin, caretaker and a handful of other people were allowed to offer Friday prayers behind closed doors in accordance with Section 3(1) of the Sindh Epidemic Diseases Act 2014.
It is to be noted that Sindh has reported the highest number of coronavirus cases in the country reaching 19,924 cases with 336 casualties so far.
