Lahore High Court (LHC) is set to hear petition against the appointments of Inam Ghani as new IG Punjab Police and CCPO Lahore Umar Shaikh.
LHC will hear petition filed by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Malik Ahmad Khan against the appointments of Inspector General (IG) Punjab Police Inam Ghani and Umar Shaikh – Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Lahore.
The petition has contended that the appointment of new IGP against the Police Ordinance 2002 according to which, the tenure of the Punjab IG is for a duration of three years.
It is pertinent to know that Punjab government has replaced five IGPs in the past two years.
According to sources, the decision to replace Shoaib Dastagir as IG Punjab Police has been taken after his purported ‘differences’ with Umar Sheikh – Lahore Capital City Police Officer (CCPO).
Meanwhile, on the other hand Additional Inspector General (AIG) Tariq Masood Yasin has also refused to work under the newly appointed IGP citing seniority issues.
In a letter addressed to DIG headquarters, AIG Tariq Masood Yasin has requested the government to transfer him, and has sought professional leave till the matter is resolved and duly addressed.
