A Lahore High Court (LHC) bench has refused to address the petition filed by PML-Q’s Chaudhry brothers against NAB on Tuesday.
According to details, LHC bench comprising of Justice Syed Shahbaz Ali Rizvi and Asjad Javaid Ghural, has refused to address the case filed by Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) leaders Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi against NAB.
The judges have referred the case back to LHC Chief Justice to be fixed for hearing by another bench.
Prior to this, Justice Farooq Haider, another member of the bench, had excused himself from hearing the case as well.
It is to be noted that Chaudhry brothers had filed a petition in LHC accusing NAB of ‘political engineering’ and political persecution after its decision to reopen a 19-year old assets beyond means investigation against them.
The PML-Q leadership maintained that the NAB cannot reopen an investigation in which the accused have already been acquitted by the bureau itself back in 2000.
