Lahore High Court (LHC) granted permission to PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif to go abroad for medical treatment.
As per details, LHC’s Justice Ali Baqar Najafi heard Shehbaz Sharif’s plea seeking permission to go abroad for medical treatment.
During the hearing Shehbaz Sharif’s lawyer Advocate Amjad Pervaiz contended that his client was arrested in connection with Ashiana and Ramzan Sugar Mills cases in 2018 but he got bail in February 2019 and his name was removed from ECL on LHC orders.
In his plea, Shehbaz Sharif also accentuated that he is a cancer survivor and hence should be granted permission to go abroad for essential medical treatment.
Justice Ali Baqar Najafi also directed FIA and DG Immigrations and Passport (HQ) to submit their report on the issue before next hearing.
The court then granted one-time permission to PML-N President and National Assembly Opposition Leader Shehbaz Sharif to go abroad for medical treatment.
Keeping in view the past conduct and travel history, the fact that name of the petitioner is not in the Exit Control List (ECL) at the moment, the name of the petitioner in blacklist, if already placed, will not stop the petitioner from one-time visit to UK from May 8, 2021 for his medical checkup as per his personal commitment made before this court, read the interim verdict issued by LHC.
However, the court has directed Shehbaz Sharif to return to Pakistan by July 3rd 2021.
Following the court’s permission, Shehbaz Sharif is expected to first leave for Doha, Qatar and will then fly for London, UK for his physician’s appointment on May 22.
Meanwhile, government officials, representatives have expressed astonishment over LHC’s decision to allow Shehbaz Sharif to fly abroad.

Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry has said that government will utilize all legal options in order to prevent Shehbaz Sharif from leaving the country as he is accused of money laundering worth billions of rupees.
