ISLAMABAD: Male leopard spotted in the Margalla Hills of Islamabad, supposed to be the family member of three Leopard prides living in the hills.
The predator was spotted on a surveillance camera placed on the capital’s main hiking trails, experts believe that he is an alpha male, belongs to one of the three Leopard prides, living in the habitat of Margalla Hills National Park.
The Animal is the larger male who has never been seen near the hiking trails of Islamabad, surveillance authorities say while briefing press.
“This was the habitat that was taken away from them. Not only have they been breathing cleaner air but enjoying the freedom of movement. It is so rare to spot an animal as iconic as the leopard. Because the preying species of the leopard are being well protected by our staff, the leopard is flourishing.”
Chairman of the Islamabad Wildlife Management Board (IWMB) – Dr. Anis Rehman told while talking to the English daily.
He also said that it’s not just leopards but wild animals including fox, martins, and porcupines, barking deer, jackals, and wild boars among others have come down from the hills, enjoying a respite from humans and seem to be exploring empty spaces that were previously disturbed by trekkers and hikers.
