Islamabad High Court (IHC) has given one week to Indian High Commission to seek relevant instructions in Kulbhushan Jadhav case.
IHC larger bench comprising of Chief Justice Athar Minallah and comprising Justice Aamer Farooq and Jusitce Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb heard a petition over the issue of legal representation of Indian spy Kulbhushan Jadhav.
During the hearing, Attorney General of Pakistan(AGP) – Khalid Javed Khan argued that federal government has so far fulfilled every legal prerequisite and conditions in Kulbhushan Jadhav case in accordance with the decision of International Court of Justice (ICJ).
Furthermore, Khalid Javed Khan apprised the court that Indian government was intentionally avoiding court proceedings and has deliberately played an overwhelmingly passive role in the case so far.
Justice Athar Minallah maintained that cooperation from India is essential to the implementation of ICJ verdict in the case and said that India can approach the court directly in case of any reservations.
The court has given one week to Indian High Commission Counsel to seek, obtain necessary instructions from Kulbhushan Jadhav for legal representation in the case.
Kulbhushan Jadhav Case
Khulbhushan Jadhav aka Hussain Mubarak Patel was arrested inside Balochistan in Mashkel near the border region of Chaman on March 3, 2016, on charges of working for Indian intelligence agency RAW and being involved in various terrorism and espionage activities inside Pakistan and was sentenced to death in 2017.
India had reached out to International Court of Justice (ICJ) against the verdict, which had directed Pakistan to grand consular access to the accused and in fact turned downed India’s request for Kulbhushan’s release.
