KARACHI: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa won the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy 2021-22, after defeating Northern by 169 runs on fifth day of the day-night final at National Stadium in Karachi with off-spinner Sajid Khan taking a five-wicket haul to help his team win the crown.
KP gave Northern a stiff task of chasing down a 384-run target, but the losing finalists were rolled over for 214 runs in 45.2 overs.
Sajid also took the last wicket of Mubasir Khan, who was caught by Iftikhar Ahmed, as KP players erupted in joy having won the country’s premier first-class tournament.
Other than Sajid, Waqas Ahmed took two wickets, while captain Iftikhar Ahmed took two important scalps of Muhammad Huraira and Umar Amin
For Northern, opener Huraira scored 57, Faizan Riaz 49, and Umar Amin notched 33 runs were the stand-out batters.
