Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has announced its decision to provide Rs 7 million in financial aid to the families of healthcare workers who die of coronavirus.
Addressing a press conference, Ajmal Wazir – adviser to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister on information, stated that the families of healthcare workers who die of COVID-19 will receive an economic aid amounting to Rs 7 million.
As per the details, the economic package will cover medical officers belonging from all grades.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has reported a total of 2,627 confirmed coronavirus cases with 146 casualties.
Doctors, paramedics and other healthcare workers have been on the forefront of the fight against coronavirus. According to a World Health Organisation (WHO) report, citing ministry of national health services, around 376 healthcare workers have been diagnosed with coronavirus in the country, with five reported deaths so far.
The report further states that 132 healthcare workers have been hospitalized due to COVID-19, while 152 are isolated at home and 87 have recovered. Those who tested positive for COVID-19 include 181 doctors and 55 nurses while rest of them are other hospital staff.
