DUBAI: Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei said in a televised address that public gatherings should be avoided this Ramazan due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Addressing the public on Thursday, he said that: “In the absence of public meetings this Ramazan, remember to heed your prayers and devotions in your lonesomeness.”
Khamenei urged the nation to pray at home an in communities in Ramazan in order to contain the virus.
Iran has not announced the strategy and SOPs for Ramazan, the congregational prayers remain suspended already.
Meanwhile, 35 prisoners had been killed by security forces in Iran as a result of riots among prisoners due to the fear of contracting virus; however, the state media reported only one death.
According to the latest report, there are 66,000 new cases of the COVID-19 in Iran.
