Kashmiris mark ‘Black Day’ on the occasion of India’s Independence Day on August 15th today.
Kashmiris residing in both Azad Kashmir and Indian Occupied Kashmir observe ‘Black Day’ on the occasion of India’s Independence Day on August 15th today.
Kashmiri Hurriyat leaders including Syed Ali Gilani, the All Parties Hurriyat Conference, the Mirwaiz Umar Farooq-led Hurriyat forum and others have called for a complete shutdown in IOK on the occasion of India’s Independence Day today.
Kashmiris across the globe are set to hold protests and demonstrations in Indian embassies and consulates around the world to highlight and register their protests against illegal Indian occupation of the disputed valley in violation of United Nations Security Council Resolutions (UNSCR).
Meanwhile various other Hurriyat leaders such as Syed Ali Gilani, Molvi Bashir Ahmed, Engineer Hilal Ahmed War, Ghulam Muhammad Khan Sopori, Shabbir Ahmed Dar, Zamruda Habib, Muhammad Yousuf Naqash, Bilal Siddiqui, Umar Aadil Dar, Abdul Samad Inqilabi and others have stressed upon the significance of observing India’s Independence Day as ‘Black Day’, for that it will reflect Kashmiris’ resolve and undeterred courage for their right of self-determination as guaranteed by international laws and conventions.
It is to be noted that prior to this, people took to the streets and fired firecrackers in Srinagar and many other places across the territory to celebrate Pakistan’s Independence Day on August 14th a day earlier.
All Parties Hurriyat Conference had asked the Kashmiri people to celebrate Pakistan’s Independence Day as Thanksgiving Day, as their destiny is adjoined with that of Pakistan’s.
