Karachi traders have urged Sindh government to ease COVID-19 restrictions and allow business activities to continue ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr.
As per details, Karachi Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KCCI) has urged Sindh government to allow trade activities from Iftar to Sehri for the next two days ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr.
Zubair Motiwala – Chairman Supreme Council of Businessmen Group (BMG) has argued that COVID-19 situation in Karachi is contained and is not as bad as various other parts of the country.
Hence, government must relax its COVID-19 restrictions and allow business, trade activates to resume between Iftar and Sehri on Wednesday and Thursday, said the former KCCI chairman.
Business community and traders must be given due chance to address and somewhat recover from their mounting financial loss which they have been subjected to due to COVID-19 restrictions.
Reopening of markets and businesses will be beneficial for traders, shopkeepers and will also allow the public to make essential preparations for Eid-ul-Fitr, he added.
Meanwhile, current KCCI chairman – Muhammad Shariq Vohra has also underscored the significance of required relief for city’s business community, traders and shopkeepers who have been badly hit due to adverse economic repercussions of COVID-19 pandemic and resulting lockdowns.
Many businesses will be completely destroyed in case of necessary relief, said Chairman of the Small Traders Committee of the KCCI – Abdul Majeed Memon.
It is to be noted that both federal government has imposed ‘stay home stay safe’ measures across the country with a ban on all commercial and business activities from May 8th till May 16th in wake of prevailing COVID-19 wave.
