Karachi traders are determined to reopen their businesses and are determined to resume their operations from Monday.
Addressing the media after discussions with Sindh government, traders’ union leaders and prominent businessmen of the metropolitan city, announced that they will reopen shops and markets across the city from Monday. The traders assured the government of their cooperation, and reaffirmed their commitment to strictly abide by the standard operating procedures (SOPs).
They urged the government to allow the reopening of all markets without any exceptions as small businesses and traders have been facing severe economic crisis due to lockdown. They also appealed the Sindh government to issue the official SOPs as soon as possible, so that the business community can make necessary arrangements to abide by it.
In addition to it, Sindh Minister for Labour Saeed Ghani has stated that the government is aware of the hardships faced by the business community, and that government has allowed the reopening of various sectors, industries and businesses as per the decision of the federal government.
It is pertinent to know that, federal government, on Thursday, had announced to lift the country-wide lockdown, whereas the Sindh government has maintained its position of the necessity of a strict lockdown to curb the virus spread.
