Ten police officers have been reported to have tested positive for COVID-19 coronavirus in Karachi, on Thursday.
As per sources, infected policemen include two Inspectors, one head constable and seven Constables.
Out of seven, five of these policemen have been admitted to the quarantine facility established at Karachi Expo Centre, while four have been instructed to practice self-isolation at their homes.
Police officials have assured that the infected policemen are benefitting from all the essential required medical services and are being taken care of by doctors from two major hospitals in the city.
Police officers along with healthcare workers have been on the frontline in the fight against COVID-19 coronavirus.
Earlier, Mohsin Fawad – the station house officer (SHO), Katlang, had contracted the virus while dealing with the pandemic crisis in Manga village in Mardan district which was sealed due to large number of positive cases. Another 49-year-old inspector – serving in investigation south, was moved to Indus Hospital after testing positive for the novel virus.
According to government figures, over 150 healthcare workers have been infected with coronavirus in Pakistan.
A total of 7,261 confirmed coronavirus cases have been reported in Pakistan with 137 deaths so far.
