Karachi, along with various areas of Sindh are set to receive another rain spell from (Saturday) today.
Another monsoon spell is expected to hit Karachi and various areas of Sindh and Balochistan from Saturday August 30th (today).
According to Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) the rain spell is likely to cause moderate to heavy downpour till Monday August 31st .
Rain/wind-thundershowers, with isolated heavy to very heavy falls are expected in Sindh including Karachi, Hyderabad, Thatta, Badin, Shaheed Benazirabad, Dadu, Tharparker, Nagarparker, Mirpurkhas, Islam Kot, Umar Kot, Sanghar, Sukkur and Larkana.
Meanwhile several areas in Balochistan such as Lasbella, Khuzdar, Awaran, Barkhan, Zhob, Musa Khel, Loralai, Kohlu and Sibbi are also expected to receive sporadic showers.
“Hydero-Meteorological situation in view, all concerned authorities including Provincial Irrigation departments and PDMAs/DDMAs are advised to remain alert, criticially watch the situiatiuon and take all necessary precautionary measures well in time to avoid loss precious human lives and damage to private and public property,” read the notification issued by Ministry of Water Resources Office of Chief Engineering Advisir/Chairman Federal Flood Commission.
Prior to this, the three-day record sixth rain spell wreaked havoc in Karachi resulting in 23 deaths in the metropolis.
Karachi has witnesses more than 500 mm of rain in the month of August so far, with around 230 mm of rainfall on Thursday August 27th alone.
